Liz grew up in the Southeast of England in Suffolk where the local heathland sparked her love of landscape. Since then, she has lived in a number of locations across the UK. She attended art school in Birmingham and graduated with a post-graduate diploma in Landscape Design. Over the last decade she established her art practice in the North West, evolving from illustration to her more abstract mixed media paintings. She is a member of the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts (MAFA).
Liz’s expressive abstract landscape paintings draw on her relationship and connection with place. She works extensively on location, drawing and painting in sketchbooks & on paper. This connection to her experience is fundamental to the way she works and guides her studio practice using acrylic paint, collage & other mixed media. Memories of vistas & details are combined to create layered evocative tactile paintings reflecting aspects of time & place.
