Justin works with copper, inspired by its malleability and the colours that are within the metal. His goal is to create art and beautiful functional pieces that are a celebration of water and the natural world.
The work starts with copper hot water cylinders salvaged from local scrap yards. They are then cleaned, cut, heated, hammered, polished and then the process of patinating the pieces begins. This is an alchemical reaction, unpredictable in it's results at times, Justin feels like a guide to the colours, showing the way. Finally after sealing the pieces are ready.
